Wedding Wednesday | Freebies for Brides-To-Be – Oh

Getting married can be quite costly. I’ve only been engaged for a month, but searching for venues and comparing catering and drink options has truly revealed the high cost of weddings. It was truly astonishing. Luckily, there are many free perks out there for soon-to-be brides, even in the initial stages of planning. While they may not make up for the thousands spent on the reception, these little bridal-themed gifts can help distract you from the hefty bill for that open bar. Here are some freebies that I particularly enjoy.

Right now, I have all of our wedding plans stuffed in a bag because I haven’t gotten around to organizing them in a binder yet. A free file tote would be really useful at this point, especially as I have a ton of vendor pamphlets and my cat, Yogurt, keeps trying to play with the wedding bag by jumping inside. I’m planning to go to The Container Store next week to set up a registry and get my hands on that free file tote; I’ll admit, the freebie is the main reason I’m going, but any excuse to visit that super neat store is good enough for me.
I love small organization projects, but I have yet to find the time to start one.
So, one of my registries hasn’t been activated yet, and I haven’t gotten the gift card for the other one. Therefore, I can’t confirm if this is true. But, apparently, there are reports online that big retailers like Amazon and Target are offering gift cards for setting up and completing a registry. If you give it a try, let me know how it goes!

The Wedding Chicks have such cute stuff that even puppies and kittens might seem dull in comparison. Their free printable section is extensive, so if you’re recently engaged (like me!), you might not need RSVP cards right now, but you could enjoy a custom romantic phone wallpaper!

You might want to grab another free printable from The Wedding Chicks early on – these cute ‘be my bridesmaid’ cards. They would go perfectly with a DIY ‘be my bridesmaid’ box!

Go to Things Remembered at the shopping mall near you (they have one in every mall, right?) and inquire about the complimentary engraved keepsake heart. It’s a gift for subscribing to their bridal e-newsletter, and mine was available a couple of hours after we visited. So cute.
Search for ‘bridal expo’ in [CITY YOU LIVE IN] on Google and see the results. Most bridal shows in St. Louis allow free entry for the bride if she signs up beforehand. Bridal expos can be enjoyable and useful whether you have some planning done or don’t know where to start.
There are a variety of complimentary items available at the Bridal Expo.
I got a lot of good stuff at the expo. I took home a mug that says ‘I’M GETTING MARRIED!’, a great tote that my cat immediately claimed as hers, a small bottle of wedding cake vodka, several photo booth pictures, big discounts, a picture frame, a deck of cards, candy, a wooden rose, and tons of business cards and brochures from local vendors offering expo specials. And I can’t forget about all the delicious food we tried – appetizers, entrees, Cold Stone Creamery’s ice cream wedding cake, and cheesecake bites. Free food always tastes better!
